How did you get into your sport: I began running as a hobby to keep fit and stumbled my way into some races in 2012. From there things began to rapidly evolve with my passion for running and competitive nature leading me towards a more serious and dedicated approach in my running.
Hardest thing about your sport: What does your regular training week consists of: My biggest challenge in running is balancing my training, coaching, teaching career and family life. I generally train daily with a typical week logging around 10 – 20hrs of formal training depending on what phase I’m in and what race I’m targeting.
How do you keep motivated: Every day is a new challenge in running, the constant desire to continue to improve as an individual is and always will be my biggest motivation.
Goals (Future Plans and Career expectations): In 2018 I plan on focusing on Mountain Running in the first part of the year and then perhaps a look at a race or two that I haven’t run in before, maybe Coastal Classic. I am also very keen to see my coaching continue to improve and my clients continue to meet and exceed their goals.
Best piece of advice you have been given: I have been given lots of crap advice but the best advice I have been given is that you should always run to your ability and training and be true to your goals. Running is an individual sport and you always follow your journey, not that of someone else.
