On the 14 July at 7am there were 350+ teams ready to embark on the annual Kokoda Challenge. This year’s track was deemed to be the toughest track thus far, and due to the weather conditions earlier on the week the track was made it even more perilous. The conditions of the 96km track did not stop the No Roads Expedition team to emerge 11 hours and 43 minutes to secure their second consecutive win.
Congratulations to No Roads Expedition on their fantastic win. Here is what Brendan Davies (member of No Roads Expedition) had to say:
I burned through over 8000 calories over the treacherous Kokoda Challenge course – 96km with near 5000m of elevation gain. It was Hammer Perpetuem that kept me going for the 11 and half hours it took us to win the race. In the first half I used the Strawberry flavour before switching to Caffe Latte flavour later in the race. Every 20km I also had a Huckleberry flavoured gel to give me that instant boost.
The Endurolytes also proved to be a very convenient way to restore mineral loss throughout the day. These little capsules, which I kept in my shorts pocket, worked wonders and kept the cramp monsters at bay. Post-race we all celebrated with a Recoverite drink.
Thanks again Hammer Nutrition
